If you’ve been diagnosed with PCOS, you may have already seen the news. As of May 2026, PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. It’s a one letter change in the acronym, but it represents over a decade of research and input from more than 22,000 patients and clinicians worldwide.
At Bella Sol, we’ve been following this shift closely because it confirms something we’ve believed and practiced for years: this condition is never just about your ovaries. It’s about your hormones, your metabolism, and your whole body working together.

The old name, polycystic ovary syndrome, was misleading from the start. The “cysts” seen on ultrasound aren’t actually cysts. They’re immature follicles that never fully developed. Naming the condition after that finding put the focus in the wrong place and left out everything else going on underneath the surface.
PMOS corrects that. The new name reflects three things happening at once:
Polyendocrine. More than one hormone system is involved. This isn’t just about estrogen and progesterone. Insulin, androgens, and thyroid hormones are all part of the picture.
Metabolic. Insulin resistance is central to this condition for most people who have it, including people who aren’t overweight. That insulin resistance drives a lot of the downstream symptoms.
Ovarian. The ovaries are still part of the story. Irregular ovulation and follicle development are real features. They’re just not the whole story.
Your diagnosis hasn’t changed. Your treatment plan hasn’t changed. What has changed is that your care team is being pushed to look at the full picture, not just your cycle.
PMOS looks different from person to person, but the most common signs we see at Bella Sol include:
If several of these sound familiar, it’s worth getting a full lab picture rather than guessing at what’s driving your symptoms.

Because PMOS touches your hormones, your metabolism, and your ovaries all at once, a single test never tells the full story. Our approach starts with a comprehensive lab panel that looks at:
From there, we build a plan around what your labs actually show. That might include targeted supplement protocols, nutrition and lifestyle strategy, and follow-up testing to track your progress over time. You’re never handed a generic plan. You’re getting one built from your own numbers.
In honor of PMOS Awareness Month, we’re offering our full PMOS lab panel for $199. This is the same comprehensive workup we use to build a real, individualized plan, covering your reproductive hormones, metabolic health, thyroid function, and inflammation markers in one visit.
If you’ve been told your labs are “normal” but you still don’t feel right, or if you’ve never had a full workup done, this is the time to get real answers.
You deserve to understand what’s actually happening in your body, not just a label. Book your PMOS panel this month and take the first real step toward a plan built around you.
